 Boones Ferry Chiropractic and Massage

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Ryan David Campbell Nienaber. I was born in Victoria BC, Canada where I grew up and attended school. During elementary school I competed in multiple track and field events with long distance running being my forte. Over the next couple of years I played rugby, which was the precursor to my first chiropractic experience.

I continued seeing a chiropractor over the years for various ailments as I was very active in extreme sports and weight trained seriously on a daily basis. It wasn't until I was hit in a head on collision while riding a motorcycle that I truly experienced the power of chiropractic. I had been "treated" (aka. taking long term pain killers) by multiple specialists in the medical field for many months without any signs of relief. It was during this time that I became frustrated with traditional medicine and decided that I needed to pursue something with no side effects that would actually allow me to get back to my activities of daily living. I began seeing my chiropractor and immediately saw results. My daily headaches were eliminated, the "fogginess" in my thought process was lifted, I was able to return to the gym, and I gained back the 60 lbs. of solid muscle I had lost after the accident. For me, it was a life-changing event that I had to pursue. It made so much more sense and I decided that I wanted to help people the way my chiropractor helped me.

In 1998, I moved to Portland Oregon to attend the four-year program at Western States Chiropractic College. I played an active role in campus life as an elected officer of the student body. I continued to weight train daily and began kickboxing 3-5 days a week. This sports background has really solidified my understanding of sports injury and given me an edge in treating such injuries in practice today. I continue to work out daily and practice Muay Thai kickboxing with Brazilian Jui Jitsu at Oregon Martial Arts/ Oregon Judo Jui Jitsu here in Tigard.

At chiropractic college, I met my wife Jennifer. She graduated from the program in 2003 and began work in the Lake Oswego area. After her associateship, she decided to open her own clinic, Sherwood Family Chiropractic Clinic, where she currently works full time. She runs a multidisciplinary practice including acupuncture and massage therapy.

I am currently the official chiropractor for Oregon Martial Arts and have completed various seminars to advance my expertise. Some of these include:  MPI (motion palpation), Nimmo (myofascial trigger point therapy), and CCSP (certified chiropractic sports physician). I also participated in the Sports Medicine club working at all the major sporting events in the Portland area.

I am currently licensed as a doctor of chiropractic in Canada, all the commonwealth countries, as well as the United States. My active status in Oregon keeps me current with all the continuing education requirements.

My passions are: spending time with my family, my spoiled boxer's (Nalla and Bauer), mixed martial arts, weight training, motorcycles, snowboarding, and golf. But most of all, I love what I do!
